In this project, we tackled both duct replacements and insulation upgrades. Enjoy improved airflow and enhanced energy efficiency with our comprehensive solutions
We were contacted for this project because the homeowner was experiencing high energy bills and uncomfortable temperatures in their home. When we inspected the attic, we saw that there was only about four inches of old insulation in the attic. They decided they wanted to add more insulation so bring their home up to energy efficiency standards.
We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. We also sealed holes and gaps in the attic to prevent air leakage between the attic and the living spaces of the home.
The homeowner will now enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs and a more comfortable home for years to come!
The owner of this 3200 sq. ft. home in Turlock, CA called Tyson Energy Solutions because the air conditioning costs in his large home were sky-high. He also complained that his home felt warm, especially during the summer months. Upon inspection of his attic, we found that he had less than three inches of old, cellulose insulation in his home.
We upgraded the homeowner’s attic to the Energy Star recommended R49 level by increasing his insulation to 18 inches using our blown-in, premium Johns Manville fiberglass insulation. We also air-sealed any openings we saw using closed-cell foam. This was done to prevent air from transferring between the attic and the living spaces of her home. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.
We also installed a QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0. The fan can be manually controlled through an app on the homeowner’s phone or set to turn on and off when varying temperature and humidity conditions are present. This ensures the greatest amount of both flexibility and control for the homeowner.
Now this homeowner and his children get to enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during the summer as well as reduced cooling and heating costs all year round.
Darcey called us because summer had just ended and she had spent the last few months uncomfortably hot in her home. At first, she thought the issue was her air conditioner, but after the HVAC technician came out, he said there was nothing wrong with her system. That’s when she contacted Tyson Energy Solutions. We came out and inspected her attic and found that she was severely low on insulation, with only about 4-5 inches. In order to make her home more comfortable year-round, we decided to upgrade her home to the Energy Star recommended 14 inches.
We air-sealed visible air leakage spots using closed-cell foam and then blew in premium fiberglass insulation to a depth of 14 inches.
Darcey said that she could feel almost an immediate difference in how frequently her air conditioner was coming on and running, and she stated that her house felt cooler for longer. She is certain to experience a more comfortable house during all seasons as well as reduced heating and cooling costs for as long as she lives in the home.
Thomas contacted us because his house was hot and uncomfortable. He had recently had his HVAC system inspected and knew that it was working fine, so he called Tyson Energy Solutions to come check his attic. Upon inspection, we found that Thomas’s attic was severely low, with less than 4 inches of old, dirty insulation. It was no wonder he thought his air conditioner was broken since there was no way it could cool his home with insulation that low.
We upgraded his insulation up to R38 level, or 14 inches, by blowing in premium, fiberglass insulation. We sealed any visible air leakage points as an additional layer of protection.
As a result of his insulation upgrade, Thomas’s home is now much more comfortable and he will be able to enjoy lower heating and cooling bills for the life of his home!
