Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation Installation Raises Attic to R38 in Fresno, CA
Vernon contacted us because his home wasn’t holding temperature the way it should. It was too warm in the summer, too chilly in the winter, and his energy bills were reflecting that imbalance. After inspecting his attic, we discovered he only had about 4 inches of old cellulose insulation—far below the recommended level for homes in the Central Valley.
To solve the problem, we performed an R38 insulation upgrade by adding premium blown-in fiberglass insulation directly over the existing cellulose. We installed 14 inches of fiberglass insulation, raising the overall R-value of his attic to the Energy Star recommended level of R38.
This upgrade provides a much-needed thermal barrier between Vernon’s living space and the extreme temperatures in the attic. With the added insulation, his home will now stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter without putting extra strain on his HVAC system.
Not only will Vernon enjoy a more comfortable home environment year-round, but he’ll also see reduced heating and cooling costs moving forward.
