From Hot and Costly to Cool and Efficient: Attic Restoration in Fresno, CA
When Carolyn reached out to us, she was dealing with an uncomfortable home that wouldn’t stay cool, no matter how much she ran her air conditioner. Her energy bills were steadily climbing, and she was ready for a solution. Our team went out to inspect her attic and discovered the root of the issue—only 3 inches of old, dirty cellulose insulation were present. This minimal insulation, combined with signs of contamination, was allowing excessive heat to transfer into her living space and significantly impacting her indoor air quality.
We recommended a complete attic restoration to address the problem from the ground up. First, we safely removed and disposed of all the old cellulose insulation. With the attic cleared out, we thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the space using Nisus DSV, a powerful disinfectant and virucide that helps eliminate bacteria, mold, and other contaminants.
Next, we air-sealed key leakage points—including top plates, wire and pipe penetrations, and around ceiling registers—to stop conditioned air from escaping and outside air from entering. We also took the time to seal any visible rodent entry points, ensuring Carolyn won’t have to deal with future infestations.
Once everything was prepped, we blew in 14 inches of premium fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to an R38 level, the Energy Star recommendation for maximum comfort and energy efficiency.
Carolyn’s home is now properly insulated and sealed, which will not only keep her house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter—it’ll also improve her indoor air quality and lower her energy costs for years to come.
